Sidemarker, corner, or indicator LED bulbs will add a nice touch to the exterior of the vehicle, by providing a true red or amber color rather than a washed-out color created by factory incandescant bulbs.
The yellowish color of the factory bulb shines through the red or amber lens to create a light yellow or orangish color. By using true red and amber LEDs, you will achieve a crisp, vibrant color.
The installation is 100% plug-and-play, just replace your factory bulb!
Stage 1: 1-5050 SMD. Compact design, with one 5050-size Epistar SMD chip. Outputs at 180 degrees.
Stage 2: 2-5050 SMD. Similarly compact design, with two 5050-size Epistar SMD chips, driven at high power for maximum effective brightness. Outputs at 180 degrees.
Stage 3: 5-5050 SMD. Each of the four sides of this bulb contains one 5050-size Epistar SMD chip, and the top is fitted one more, for full-coverage, non-directional output and high brightness.
Fitment. All bulbs use a quality inject-molded 194/168 T10 terminal, with a full-size base connector and proper pin alignment, designed for exact replacement of your factory 194 bulb. Just remove the old bulb, and plug in the new LED.
Included in your order is TWO BULBS.
These LEDs are available in crisp, bright colors of amber, red, or white. Choose the color to match your reflector- usually there is a pair of amber bulbs in the front, and a pair of red in the rear.
At Diode Dynamics, we rate the brightness of LEDs in "stages" so you can choose what fits you best.
Stage 1: Slightly lower brightness than OEM bulbs, but still provides the crisp, modern color of LED.
Stage 2: Slightly higher brightness than OEM bulbs.
Stage 3: Much brighter than OEM bulbs. These are bright!
Lumens. 99% of sellers online simply provide "calculated" lumen numbers based on the maximum potential brightness of the bulb. For example, if a bulb has five 10-lumen chips, they will rate it at 50 lumens. However, this is far from accurate, as the design of an LED bulb rarely provides the proper conditions for maximum brightness, once it is all put together. We do not provide calculated numbers, as we believe it is misleading to the consumer. Please reference our pictures for brightness comparison. We do not currently list lumen brightness ratings for our products yet- however, we've just purchased the required equipment, and will be posting accurate measurement numbers soon!
LED Components. Diode Dynamics uses only the highest quality LED chips in the production of its bulbs. This means we use only brand-name suppliers such as Epistar, Cree, Osram, and Samsung.
While our bulbs may look the same as others on the market, most copycat bulbs use economy-grade LED chips in order to reduce costs. This greatly reduces the reliability and overall brightness of the bulb when you compare it to Diode Dynamics.
Construction. Although LED technology allows for extremely long bulb life, the market is flooded with cheap LED bulbs that fail prematurely due to inferior construction. The worst enemy of LEDs is excessive heat, and when bulbs are not designed properly, they do not disperse heat as well, leading to premature failure.
Off-brand, cheap bulbs exhibit poor solder uniformity, high levels of flux in the solder, uneven chip placement, low-gauge terminal wires, poor assembly, and bulbs held together with inferior adhesives. At best, solder joints will crack and fail on low-quality LEDs after a few weeks of use. In the worst case, these bulbs can damage housings as the extra flux and adhesive evaporates and creates a residue on the lens of the housing.
